DESIGN FOR YOU
Material with a story
Do you also want an unique Macnas bag? Esspecially for you? Have you been looking for a bag that completely matches what you want and need? Can't find this bag? Looking for a bag of plant based or innovative materials. I would like to design it, with you.
Based on a previously made Macnas bag is also possible. Or based on a Macnas bag with adjustments in the dimensions.
Do you have a leather bag or jacket with sentimental value? Would you like to use it, but it's not your style or size? I can transform it into a new bag for you.

MATERIAL EXPLORER
Bio degradable
My focus at the moment is experiment beyond reuse. Making things without a footprint by using biodegradable materials. Bury in a garden after (long-term) use and you get flowers in return! Thankful slow design.
Current experiments include cactus leather, appleskin, mango leather (Fruitleather), linoleum, grapes, mycelium and kombucha leather from a scoby.
ABOUT MACNAS
Just imagine: no more mountains of discarded clothing, shoes, and accessories. What if we only made products from materials so friendly to the earth that you could simply bury them after use? And something new can grow out of them.
My love for bags goes way back. They are our handy treasures, sometimes as valuable as the things they carry. They tell the world who we are.
Studio Macnas' main goal is a more conscious way of consuming: waste less, appreciate more. What if you ran out of a bag? Really worn out? Then it would be nice if it disappeared without a trace into nature and even nourishes the soil.
I have been working on this fascinating journey into sustainability with Studio Macnas for more than three years. This adventure involves networking, testing with and for companies, and collaborating with innovative customers and students who are just as curious as I am. Most materials are so new that there is not much knowledge about them yet. So yes, I often bury materials myself to see if they decompose well in the ground. I am enthusiastic about exploring new sustainable options for making bags. I share the knowledge and inspiration I gain during this process with my audience through social media, as well as through lectures and workshops. This always provides new input for further research, and every new insight is a leap forward.
'Rethinking fashion patterns' by creating, innovating, and inspiring. Studio Macnas' activities range from custom-making bags, designing compostable haberdashery, and giving workshops and lessons about sustainable making and entrepreneurship. Everything fits together and reinforces each other.
Curious? Would you like to participate in this or another exciting experiment? Let me know! Together, we can change the patterns of the fashion world.
Sparkling, creative, artisanal.
Those three words summarize professional Belinda.
The process of designing a bag together what a party,
and the result is fantastic.
I love my Macnas bag.

I thought it was very special to be included in the creative process and to learn everything about the sustainable materials and the origin.
Very nice to be involved in the making process at the Macnas location itself. I really enjoyed being kept informed of the progress in the meantime and then not at the end... that is always very exciting.
Very happy with the end product and the nice collaboration.

Dynamic bag - growing bag Can you take care of the bag? It gives you herbs, flowers and scents in return. Grown from mycelium, filled with soil for fresh plants to grow. Enough space for personal belongings such as a phone, keys and a small wallet. The bag is natural, plant based and compostable. The branches of the band will grow and you will experience the different seasons. Will you let them grow wild? Braid or prune? Or will you choose a bag with herbs or flowers? What if we use different materials? What if we take better care of what we have? What if we use what is already there? With this bag we want to inspire to rethink current fashion patterns. Team: - De Kiemkamer, Gijs Matser https://kiemkamer.nl This place is always looking for new natural green explorers to expand their community! Hand in hand The elements of this compact little bag are selected with care. The fabric is Malai. @malai.eco A newly developed material made from entirely organic and sustainable bacterial cellulose, grown on agricultural waste sourced from the coconut industry in Southern India. The strap is made from European hemp and also processed in the EU. It is dyed with reactive dyes and complies with European REACH regulations. The yarn and haberdashery are the next steps on the path to bags you can bury. So they neve have to end up on the endless landfills. The title of the bag is chosen with care as well. The design of the closure can be seen als a thumb of a hand that joins another hand. Let’s join hands in this innovative journey. By buying these bags you support the material research to change patterns in the fashion industry. #bagdesign #innovations #nextgenmaterials
